Newcomers looking to buy in Bulgaria.

If you are pondering buying your dream home in Bulgaria first you need to narrow down your location.

Ask anyone where the best place to buy is, and they will all say where they are. It is important that you chose the location that is best for you. This may help you get an understanding of the land your looking to invest in.

see the map below.

There are 28 provinces in Bulgaria .

The provinces are further subdivided into 265 municipalities
The airports are, Sofia, Varna, Burgas, and Plovdiv.
The country has an enviable Mediterranean climate which shifts more towards continental as you move inland.

The coast of Bulgaria is home to a large area of low land and is a contrast to the west and south which see a very mountainous country that rises to over 7000 feet. As you increase in altitude you increase in temperature extremes along with higher levels of precipitation, so in the low lands you see much more moderate rainfall and more mild conditions. Summers do have a tendency to get quite hot, and winters fairly cold.

On the coast towards the Burgas region the winters are far shorter and milder and have less snow than in areas further up, or inland towards places like Veliko Turnovo and Sophia. The same can be said with the summers. The coast often enjoys a sea breeze where inland you can feel the heat more.

Cities and villages. Many people dream of the ideal of country life. Villages in Bulgaria are not like those in the UK. The closer to he city you are the better the amenities and infrastructure. When choosing your home think about how long you are going to be there and the what ifs.

Ask yourself questions such as,

Where is the nearest hospital? you may not need it now, but you just never know.

Where is the nearest post office? do I need to travel to get my post?

Are transport links important to me? If you don't drive you may need to rely on a village bus. How often do they come and go?

Where is the nearest school? and how do we get there?

Where is the nearest airport?

Is there an internet provider? and what is the internet speed and reliability like?

There are many more questions you could/should research, but remember when you see something cheap price isn't everything, location is key.

There are Facebook groups and forums that will help you do your homework.
